Bataleon Cameltoe 158 Snowboard Review 2018-2019

Description

TESTER: Chris Pearson

BOARD: Bataleon Cameltoe 158

OVERALL IMPRESSION FROM  1 TO 7:  6

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS BOARD?: Surprised how much I like the 3BT

WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS BOARD?: Riding flatbased on groomer felt a little strange, maybe slightly squirelly.

OVERALL COMMENTS: When transitioning onto your edge it takes a split second longer than usual to engage since the tip and tail are lifted and it can feel a little abrupt when it grabs outside the bindings. The lifted edges seem like they may add a little extra curvature to the sidecut so the sensation of the turn changes as you roll over and more of the edge engages. I wouldn’t necessarily consider this a bad thing though, I sort of enjoyed the unique feel of this and it was surprisingly easy to adapt to. I thought the 3BT spoon shape nose and tail would really compromise control but I was surprised to find that I could really hold an edge nicely and I wasn’t washing out of carves like I thought I might.

RATE THE SHAPE FROM 1 TO 7:  6

SHAPE COMMENT: FUN TO LOOK AT

ADDITIONAL SHAPE COMMENTS:  Well balanced shape, enough float from the nose and sink in the tail to pop you back up out of the whiteroom after landing a drop but not so short of a tail that you feel bogged down and slow in the powder once it flattens out a bit

RATE THE FLEX FROM 1 TO 7:   6

FLEX COMMENT:  JUST RIGHT

ADDITIONAL FLEX COMMENT:  The 3D creased profile of the nose seems to give a bit of extra stiffness to it (like folds in a sheet metal part or legs of a structural channel). This seemed to help it punch through sections of heavier powder where a flexier nose would have a tendency to fold up on you and plow more

RATE STABILITY THROUGH TURNS FROM 1 TO 7:   5

STABILITY COMMENT: PRETTY GOOD

ADDITIONAL STABILITY COMMENTS: Great stability in the powder, a little less stable straight lining flat base on groomer but control is immediately recovered once you put it on edge

RATE THE POP/ PLAYFULNESS FROM 1 TO 7:  6

COMMENT ON PLAYFULNESS:

ADDITIONAL COMMENT ON PLAYFULNESS:

RATE FLOAT IN POW FROM 1 TO 7:    RADICAL

COMMENT ON FLOAT IN POW: EFFORTLESSLY FLOATY

ADDITIONAL COMMENT ON FLOAT IN POW: The hull shape just feels right at home in the powder

RATE THE GRAPHICS FROM 1 TO 7:  5

GRAPHICS COMMENT: I’M FEELING IT

ADDITIONAL GRAPHICS COMMENTS: Simple, subdued, no nonsense
