Burton Skeleton Key 163 Snowboard Review 2018-2019
Description
TESTER: Eric Odlin
BOARD: Burton Skeleton Key 163
OVERALL IMPRESSION FROM 1 TO 7: 4
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS BOARD?: Shape, and I hadn’t played with “the channel” infinite stance options in a while. So many possibilities.
WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS BOARD?: I guess I hate full camber. A 163 is a normal light for me but this felt huge in the trees and jibbing around.
OVERALL COMMENTS: Shape, pop, and carves where nice, but it felt large and in charge of me when cranking through so not-so-fresh trees. Gimme a little rise on the tips and free this guy up a hair. My stance was limitless but my ride was restricted feeling.
RATE THE SHAPE FROM 1 TO 7: 5
SHAPE COMMENT: FUN TO LOOK AT
ADDITIONAL SHAPE COMMENTS: More nose than tail, with a cool upcut in the tail.
RATE THE FLEX FROM 1 TO 7: 5
FLEX COMMENT: TOO STIFF
ADDITIONAL FLEX COMMENT: Perhaps it seems stiff because I was battling the camber……
RATE STABILITY THROUGH TURNS FROM 1 TO 7: 6
STABILITY COMMENT: PRETTY GOOD
ADDITIONAL STABILITY COMMENTS: Camber is the solidest ride out there.
RATE THE POP/ PLAYFULNESS FROM 1 TO 7: 3
COMMENT ON PLAYFULNESS:
ADDITIONAL COMMENT ON PLAYFULNESS: Not playful enough for me.
RATE FLOAT IN POW FROM 1 TO 7: OK
COMMENT ON FLOAT IN POW: OK
ADDITIONAL COMMENT ON FLOAT IN POW: Had to get hard in the backseat to stay up;)
RATE THE GRAPHICS FROM 1 TO 7: OK
GRAPHICS COMMENT: OK
ADDITIONAL GRAPHICS COMMENTS: Plain white with a some black text. Not bad, not great.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY: I didn’t know this, but no more fill camber for me please. It’s super solid, but takes my fun factor down.
