Nitro 154 Pow 154 Snowboard Review 2019-2020
Description
TESTER: Tyler Macleod
BOARD: Nitro 154 Pow 154
TEST YEAR: 2019 SHAPERSUMMIT SNOWBOARD REVIEWS
OVERALL IMPRESSION FROM 1 TO 7: 5
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS BOARD?: A total blast in open pow. This thing is unsinkable.
WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS BOARD?: A little sketchy in the chunder. It’s so wide up front that making quick adjustments was very tricky in variable terrain.
OVERALL COMMENTS: A perfect addition to the quiver, but there is a time and place for this deck. Perfect for deep days where you can make open pow turns, but not a board that I’d want to be riding through chop with.
BOARD STYLE: POWDER BOARD
CONDITIONS TESTED IN: HARDPACK ICE POWDER
RATE THE SHAPE FROM 1 TO 7: 5
SHAPE COMMENT: FUN TO LOOK AT
ADDITIONAL SHAPE COMMENTS: Love the short, fatty swallowtails. They look beautiful.
RATE THE FLEX FROM 1 TO 7: 5
FLEX COMMENT: TOO STIFF
ADDITIONAL FLEX COMMENT: Would’ve liked a little more liveliness in a board this short. It was pretty dang rigid, and because it was so wide, it didn’t make for as nimble of a board as I would expect.
RATE STABILITY THROUGH TURNS FROM 1 TO 7: 5
STABILITY COMMENT: OK
ADDITIONAL STABILITY COMMENTS: Got tossed around in the chunder a little bit.
RATE THE POP/ PLAYFULNESS FROM 1 TO 7: 5
COMMENT ON PLAYFULNESS: PRETTY DARN FUN
ADDITIONAL COMMENT ON PLAYFULNESS: Fun when you’re ripping through fresh pow, but not as playful/maneuverable in other variable situations.
RATE FLOAT IN POW FROM 1 TO 7: 7
COMMENT ON FLOAT IN POW: EFFORTLESSLY FLOATY
ADDITIONAL COMMENT ON FLOAT IN POW: This board was essentially unsinkable. Couldn’t believe it.
RATE THE GRAPHICS FROM 1 TO 7: 7
GRAPHICS COMMENT: I’M FEELING IT
ADDITIONAL GRAPHICS COMMENTS: Love the Quiver graphics for next year. Clean and timeless.
