Description
TESTER: Tyler Macleod
BOARD: Nitro Grif 160
TEST YEAR: 2019 SHAPERSUMMIT SNOWBOARD REVIEWS
OVERALL IMPRESSION FROM 1 TO 7: 7
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS BOARD?: This board can literally do anything and everything extremely well. A directional, all-mountain board with a true freestyle spirit.
WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS BOARD?: I honestly can’t say anything really bad about this. Maybe a bit longer and stiffer than I’m used to, but that’s not a bad thing necessarily.
OVERALL COMMENTS: What a rig. Hard carving, pow slaying, chunder mashing beast. No wonder Grof endorses it. What a ripper.
BOARD STYLE: FREERIDE BOARD
CONDITIONS TESTED IN: HARDPACK ICE POWDER
RATE THE SHAPE FROM 1 TO 7: 7
SHAPE COMMENT: AT THING OF BEAUTY
ADDITIONAL SHAPE COMMENTS: Clean lines in a directional profile. Nothing over the top, just a classic looking deck.
RATE THE FLEX FROM 1 TO 7: 6
FLEX COMMENT: JUST RIGHT
ADDITIONAL FLEX COMMENT: Maybe a tad too stiff with this much length (I’m a smaller guy). I think if it was a bit shorter, I would’ve felt a bit more comfortable.
RATE STABILITY THROUGH TURNS FROM 1 TO 7: 7
STABILITY COMMENT: ROCK SOLID- AS GOOD AS IT GETS
ADDITIONAL STABILITY COMMENTS: Soooo stable. I never had any doubts riding this board through variable terrrain.
RATE THE POP/ PLAYFULNESS FROM 1 TO 7: 6
COMMENT ON PLAYFULNESS: WICKED POPPY AND PLAYFUL
ADDITIONAL COMMENT ON PLAYFULNESS: This is a freestyle spirited board for sure. You can absolutely send cat tracks, sidehits, and whatever is in your path.
RATE FLOAT IN POW FROM 1 TO 7: 6
COMMENT ON FLOAT IN POW: EASY TO STAY UP
ADDITIONAL COMMENT ON FLOAT IN POW: No issues here. The directional shape with a comfortable amount of taper made it a powder slaying machine that still wants to spin and get some airtime.
RATE THE GRAPHICS FROM 1 TO 7: 7
GRAPHICS COMMENT: AESTHETIC AND INSPIRING
ADDITIONAL GRAPHICS COMMENTS: The Utah imagery is so sick! Love the alien base graphics too. Vibrant.
