GENTEMSTICK MANTARAY 148 SNOWBOARD REVIEW 2015

Description

TESTER NAME: JEN FOX

OCCUPATION: MOM

BOARD: GENTEMSTICK MANTARAY 148

RATING: RADICAL

OVERALL: Really enjoyable ride. Well thought out and crafted. Lives up to the hype.

SHAPE:  The large nose and small tail make this board a breeze to ride in snow with a couple inches of give. It also makes time spent on the heelside much less work. 4/5 stars only because there are certain conditions in which it is more challenging to ride than a traditional shape (dust on crust).

FLEX: Because this is a 148 the absence of flex is surprising. However, the durability and the shape come together to make this a great ‘wild snow’ and chop ride. It’s probably better without much flex.

GRAPHICS: This is a board one would hope to treasure for a long time so I appreciate the simple, tasteful top sheet and lack of graphics.

STABILITY: I was continually surprised by the stability in choppy, heavy snow.

POP/PLAYFULNESS: Fantastic for slashies. Not hard to get off the ground but landing felt like a lot of impact on the front leg due to lack of flex.

FLOAT IN POW: Particularly on the heelside I noticed more than usual floatiness.

THE LAST WORD: This board is plenty turny, well shaped and generally a blast in pow/choppy pow. Very impressive.
